Brimshiner Black Powder Lubricant
black powder lubricant

Brimshiner Black Powder Lubricant is a game changing bullet / sabot / patch lubricant and bore seasoning for cap & ball revolvers and all muzzleloaders. Compatible with real black powder and all black powder substitutes, you will be astonished as fouling is almost completely eliminated. Multiple active corrosion inhibitors protect your gun from both rust, and the corrosion from chlorides, acidity and sulfuric compounds that are unique to black powder and substitutes. Unlike most other waxy oils, Brimshiner's jojoba based formula is temperature stable and will not melt or drip on hot days. This makes it great for capping cylinders on cap and ball revolvers to lubricate bores and prevent chain firing. Special care was taken to formulate the product from chemicals that are non-toxic, skin safe, and non-carcinogenic so that you can get it on your hands without any concern. Hunting during muzzleloader season is at relatively close ranges, so Brimshiner Black Powder Lubricant has no artificial scent to give away your location to prey. Befitting of Brimshiner's stature and quality, the lubricant is supplied in a durable steel can with a screw top lid.

Instructions for Use
Brimshiner Black Powder Lubricant is applied like any other muzzleloading lubricant. The manufacturer of your firearm may specify how lubricant should be applied in the instruction manual of your firearm. If such instructions are provided, follow them exactly. General instructions follow:
For Cap & Ball Revolvers
After loading the powder and fully seating the bullet into the cylinder, apply lubricant as remaining cylinder space allows. Do not fill past flush with the end of the cylinder. In addition to the normal functions of a bullet lubricant (reducing friction, sealing gases, and softening fouling), this will help to prevent chain firing in cap & ball revolvers.
For muzzleloaders with saboted rounds or other plastic jackets
Apply lubricant evenly over all sides and faces of the the sabot or plastic jacket. Apply only a light coating of lubricant on the base where contact with the powder charge will be made. If too much lubricant is pressed into the powder charge, it could affect the proper ignition of the powder charge. It is better to have a lump of lubricant in front of the bullet than behind it.
For patched rounds
Apply the lubricant to both sides of the patch and then seat the bullet. Once the bullet is seated a few inches into the bore, apply an extra lump of lubricant above it prior to ramming the bullet through the bore.
Cleaning
After every shot, inspect the bore's condition. If there is any built up fouling, it must be cleaned. One or more patches coated with this lubricant may be used to clean the bore in the field, it is not necessary to carry a seperate cleaning product. If there are any obstructions in the bore, they must be removed. With the proper usage of this lubricant it is usually unnecessary to clean the bore between shots, but you should always inspect the bore to make certain. When you are done shooting, run a dry patch through the bore until it comes out clean (usually one or two does the job), and then cover a patch with fresh lubricant to coat the sides of the bore. This will preserve the bore from corrosion until you get an opportunity to thoroughly clean your firearm with soap and water or whatever cleaning product your prefer. You can also apply the lubricant to the lockwork or any other steel for protection against corrosion. Remember to wash your own hands and any exposed clothing with soap and water because handling firearms or ammunition exposes you to lead.
